Salsa vs Bachata

Just a few months ago I had the Idea of fronting my dance buisness as a bachata company. My philosophy was bachata was more easier to learn, and I would have more youthful students with it being more popular.

I love social dancing and performing and bachata and salsa equally. But I changed my mind on the format that would front my buisness when I started training my new partner in January of 2024.

So I began my latin social dance journey with bachata, and I never thought about adding another. But my teachers (who I love) Julio and Frida were always telling me that I needed to do salsa; It would expedite my skills as a dancer / bachata dancer.

And it did, but I had a whole new perspective when I started training Brittany. I realized how much detail and technique she had to learn to dance salsa. She would truly go in one way and come out the other. We just performed our debut last night. It’s remarkable how far she has come

As a madaloran might say, “This is the way”

I push salsa because the training is so rigid. I want to create the best dancers possible. I want them to feel like they are getting the most out of my training. I will still teach bachata and live it, but like my teachers before me I will push salsa
